Driving in the slow lane.
Instructions on how to make your own door and interior trim for your series Land rover. I have made these for years they are good solid trim and will last a long time with no sagging or losing shape . The same principle goes for any shape trim panel you want to make..
Front Door lower trim Pair
What you will need...
Black Leatherette
3mm Hardboard Sheets 610mm x 1220mm x 2
Tin of contact adhesive (impact works well)
Self tapping screws (3.5mm xx 19mm)
Drill and 3mm drill bit.
Stanley Knife, Steel Ruler
Black weatherproof paint and brush.

What you will need...
Black Leatherette
3mm Hardboard Sheets 610mm x 1220mm x 2

Drill and 3mm drill bit.

Black weatherproof paint and brush.

Cut out your hardboard to shape and double check it will fit ok.
Roll out the leatherette and place board on the top and draw around with pencil.
Remove the board turn over leatherette and roll up so the leatherette part is on the inside.

Cover the board with glue and line up the leatherette pencil markings and roll the leatherette over the board pressing flat with a cloth removing any air bubbles as you go.
Flatten out with cloth and leave to dry.

Turn over and trim the leatherette to shape and cut the corners so they can be folded as in the photo.
Glue around the sides and fold over the leatherette pressing firmly then leave to dry.
Paint with the weatherproof paint covering all bare wood.
Fitting
For lower door panels with handles drill holes for handles and fit these first.
Hold up trim to door and drill through trim and door frame with 3mm drill bit and screw in self tapping screws.
For the centre panel use coroline roofing sheet cut to 810mm wide and using the curve of the sheeting to match the curve of the door. Cut and bend to shape and cover in leatherette always fit this panel first and overlap with the top and bottom panel when fitting.
